Horn Of Africa Food Crisis

Refugees and displaced families across the Horn of Africa are caught in a hunger crisis, and the dire situation in the region isn’t letting up. We need your support to keep reaching refugees and displaced families.

Help the Hardest Hit by Hunger today

We’ve all felt the impact of the global economic downturn and shockwaves of the war in Ukraine. But it is being felt in full force across the Horn of Africa, depleting its food supply and causing food prices to rise month on month. Conflict, drought and climate change have made food insecurity worse across the region and families are being forced to flee.

When people flee their homes, often on perilous journeys, they leave their belongings and their community networks. In some cases when refugees do reach safety, they lack access to shelter, livelihoods, and social protection. In a hunger crisis like this one, it is refugees and displaced families who are most at risk. They are struggling to put food on the table. They are among the Hardest Hit by Hunger.

UNHCR has a simple answer to this complex situation - and it’s your support that can make the difference.

Women and children at the Juba2 camp for internally displaced people in Baidoa, Somalia, are among many thousands who have been forced to flee their homes in search of food, shelter and safe drinking water. Pregnant and lactating women and children under the age of five are among the most vulnerable to acute hunger and require urgent assistance to survive.
