Nearly 1 million Rohingya refugees have sought safety in Bangladesh after fleeing persecution and violence in Myanmar. They’ve been through more than anyone should experience in a lifetime.
A massive and devastating fire recently broke out in Kutupalong refugee camp in Cox’s Bazar, Bangladesh. The fire destroyed nearly 1,000 shelters, including crucial learning centres, water collection points, and healthcare facilities; and left about 7,000 Rohingya refugees homeless.
UNHCR is working with authorities and local volunteers to provide essential services and protection, including for women, children, and people with disabilities.

UNHCR co-chairs the Protection Cluster with the Department of Social Welfare and Development in the Philippines since January 2011. The Protection Cluster has been established by the National Disaster Coordinating Council (NDCC) Circular No.5 series of 10 May 2007.

Your money helps UNHCR provide protection, shelter and other forms of assistance, and advocacy on behalf of displaced and stateless people every year. We ensure that as many funds as possible are redirected to refugees, stateless persons and asylum-seekers. 85 per cent of all funds raised go directly to field operations. 7 per cent is allocated for global programmes, helping refugees, internally displaced people, asylum seekers and stateless people under the UNHCR mandate around the world, and 8 per cent is for headquarters administration.
